At present, ExxonMobil is planning to invest in a large -scale chemical complex project located at Daya Bay Petrochemical Park of Huizhou. The company signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Guangdong Province on September 5, 2018, together with the initial investment agreement for the ExxonMobil Huizhou Chemical Complex Project with Huizhou City and Daya Bay Administration Committee.

The project has been listed as one of the national seven major foreign-funded projects, and has received strong support from governments at all levels for being a key project in Guangdong Province.

The project’s first phase would include steam cracking, production of polyethylene and polypropylene, pyrolysis gasoline hydrogenation, aromatics extraction, as well as production of butadiene and clean fuel oil. Related public utilities, terminals, storage and transportation and environmental protection facilities would also be included. The site is scheduled for start up operation at the end of 2023 and will be an important platform for future expansions.
